Doctor Hussain & Partners are delighted to announce that Vista Road Surgery has been awarded GP training status. It is one of only 7 GP practices in the St Helens and Newton-le-Willows area that is recognised by the University of Liverpool to train GPs of the future. These doctors in training are known as GP registrars.

For a practice to achieve GP training status, it has to go through rigorous quality checks and assessments to ensure that the doctors of the future are in safe hands.

The new GP registrars generally start at the beginning of August and are usually placed with the practice for a year. It takes a minimum of 3 years to train a doctor to become a GP after they have received their medical degree from university. Their work at Vista Road surgery is closely supervised by Dr. Zaheer Hussain and Dr. Greg Booth, who have both been appointed as GP trainers and are responsible for the day to day supervision of the GP registrars. The practice also trains medical students, who need to learn how to talk to patients effectively and also how to examine them.

The doctors at Vista Road surgery are very grateful to all our patients who allow the GP registrars and medical students to see them. If, however, for any reason you are not happy to be assessed by a doctor in training, please let the receptionist or supervising doctor know. This will not affect your care at the practice in any way.
